Fondos Amigos Latinos provides and opportunity for Vashon community members to donate specific items and/or funds to island families. Read more below!
As the cold weather of winter and the tedium of on-line school descend on us, many Latinos are hard pressed to meet some basic needs.
Mariela Franco, Latinx outreach worker/volunteer, initiated Fondo Amigos Latinos/Latino Friends Fund to provide an opportunity for Vashon community members to donate specific items and/or funds to island Latinx families.
Our ask is very specific: IGA and Thriftway gift cards, Granny’s gift cards, cozy blankets either new or used (in clean and excellent condition), and safe non-toxic art supplies.
You can drop any of these items at the DOVE office, 17311 Vashon HWY SW (AJ’s coffee stand parking lot), on Tuesdays between 9:30 and 3:00. Alternatively, you can make a direct tax-deductible donation of any amount here: https://vashondoveproject.networkforgood.com/projects/109657-main-giving-page. Please earmark Fondo Amigos Latinos in the note section.
During this time of political unrest, financial difficulty, isolation and anxiety for many, Mariela wishes to express her appreciation to members of the Immigrant/Refugee Rights Group for the love, care, and commitment you continue to show in support of island Latino families.
